10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Department of Ecology,300 Desmond Dr. Lacey, Wa, Room 1S-16
Attendees:
Joy Denkers, Ecology - Dave Steele, DNR - Scott Denkers, DNR
Activities:
We reviewed the GIC Goals & Tactical Activities that came
out of the last
planning session. Relied on some members original documents (and
memories) from
that meeting. Talked about the existing GIC work groups -- what
work groups were moving to
liason roles (Census & Georeference), what new ones will be
formed, and the need
for Adhoc groups.
This was followed by an open discussion about the 10 hightest
ranked GIC Tactical
Activities, and what ones seemed appropriate for the Standards
Work Group to
tackle.
We came up with a list of likely candidates for the group to
consider working on:
- GIS Resource Directory/Systems Directory or Listings (GIC
identified tasks #4)
- Contact List - who's doing what (GIC identified tasks #10)
- Promotion/Distribution of WA Geospatial Data Guidelines
- GIC Home Page - making meeting minutes and other documents
available via internet
- Promotion/Display of GIC Standards work via traditional
information sharing
mechanisms - conferences (NW Arc/Info Users Group, NWCAMA, IPMA's
Fall Forum) and
others
Since few members were present at this meeting (after the
holidays and federal
furlough as it were), we felt we needed to have a larger group
present before
making any commitments.
Note: there was one tatical activity the GIC asked us to consider
handling Task
#7 - Gathering 25 Most Asked Policy Questions. The group
present felt it would
be better handled by an Adhoc Work Group of the GIC. We will
review this thought
again at our next meeting.
The subject of a name change was raised again. We'll need to
address this at
our next meeting.
