Existing State Standards:

  1. Geographic Information Technology Policy and Standards Process document describes the iterative process for developing and maintaining GIS policy and standards.
  2. Standard for Metadata - describes the standard for geospatial data documentation
  3. Standard for Geodetic Control Data - describes the standard for datum and coordinate system
  4. Standard for Hydrography Data
  5. Procedures for Converting GIS Data from NAD 27 to NAD83/91 utilizing ESRI tools - white paper collaboratively developed with ESRI to address potential re-projection issues.  Includes suggested fixes and updated files

The Revised Code of Washington (RCW  43.105.041) delegates authority to the Information Services Board to….."develop state-wide or interagency (IT) technical policies, standards, and procedures". The relationship with the new ISB/GIT executive committee provides an opportunity for WAGIC to formalize certain standards and guidelines that have been developed through various council initiatives.  The proposed process and phase one standards provided above are the initial efforts to formalize and build on previous council efforts.
