A timber reserve will change the management beneficiary for timber on land owned by the state. A timber reserve will also maintain a management beneficiary on timber on land sold by the state when the timber was reserved.
Most impressions have an expiration date and the timber will go to the management beneficiary as designated until the impression expires.
When the impressed timber reserve expires or is released from the reserve agreement the timber ownership will revert to the designated ownership rights in the agreement that transferred the rights to the timber on the land area.
Because of DNR business needs the INSTRUMENT_TYPE_CODE relates to the type of instrument that is included in a land transaction file. The LAND_AREA_DOC_TY_CODE will get to the specific document type. This refers to the type of transaction in general that is occuring. A "conveyance instrument" may be the application involved in a land sale, or the conveying deed. Is this really needed since the LAND_TRANSACTION_EVENT list what the real property agreement is for and the LAND_AREA_DOC_TY_CODE tells the type of document?

1 = PENDING An application has been filed, but no land transaction document has been issued. A land transaction number will be issued for a pending transaction.
2 = OPERATIVE A land transaction document has been issued and an expiration date has been added. An operative land transaction normally will remain within the transaction process until it is completed. Historically some DNR operative transactions were issued for an indefinite period, with no stated expiration date. Many of those transactions have been reissued with a set expiration date, but some remain listed with an indefinite period for the transaction. Most transaction documents issued by the DNR past 1990 will be issued with the date of expiration included within the land transaction document.
3 = COMPLETED A completed land transaction is one that has left the active land transaction process. There are a large number of reasons for a land transaction to be considered to be completed. Some land transactions, within the completed phase, will be re-activated by a Business or Commissioner's Order.
