GROWTH MANAGEMENT AREA DESIGNATION (Entity)
Washington state counties have different requirements for planning under the Growth Management Act (GMA). Many counties are required to develop very detailed land use designations. Growth management area designations represent a consolidated grouping of these more detailed designations. Local government land use designations to not apply to federal land.
Business Rules: Due to the generalized nature of these growth management area designations, they should be used for general planning purposes only.
Volume: There are 39 counties in Washington state. There will be growth management area designations for each of these counties.

Integrity Rules:
Retention: Forever. Growth management area designations will need to be tracked over time.
Definition Responsibility: The Asset Stewardship Section of the DNR.
Creation Responsibility: The Asset Stewardship Section of the DNR.
Create Rule: A new instance of this entity will occur when a Washington State county submits newly defined land use designations under the Growth Management Act guidelines and it meets spatial accuracy of +- 200 ft.
Update Rule: An instance of this entity being updated will occur if a Washington State county submits an update.
Delete Rule: An instance of this entity will be deleted if a Washington State county submits a deletion update.

URBAN
All land within an Interim Urban Growth Area or Urban Growth Area as adopted by a county under the authority of the Growth Management Act.

All lands that are not within an Interim Urban Growth Area nor Urban Growth Area, and not designated as natural resource land of long term commercial significance, as adopted by a county under the authority of the Growth Management Act.
RESOURCE_FOREST
All Forest Lands that have long-term significance for the commercial production of timber as designated by a county under the authority of the Growth Management Act.
RESOURCE_AGRICULTURE
All Agricultural Lands that have long-term significance for the commercial production of food or other agricultural products as designated by a county under the authority of the Growth Management Act.
RESOURCE_RANGE
All Range Lands of long-term commercial significance as designated by a county under the authority of the Growth Management Act.
RESOURCE_MINERAL
All Mineral Lands of long-term significance for the extraction of minerals, as designated by a county under the authority of the Growth Management Act. Some are designated jointly with URBAN, RURAL, RESOURCE_FOREST, RESOURCE_AGRICULTURE, or RESOURCE_RANGE designations.
