Subject: Washington Cadastral Framework

Dear Partners:

The SDE server and ArcView Internet Map Server is back up and running. The problem turned out to be a password having special characters. Sorry for the interruption of service, and thank you for your patience.

There have been several developments in the past few months that I would like to let everyone know about. The Federal Geographic Data Committee Framework Demonstration Project is coming to an end. The end of the period of performance for the FGDC grant was 2000/03/31. I am submitted the final project report to the FGDC on 2000/05/31. A copy of the report is posted on the web site under the Status section. The Department of Natural Resources will continue to maintain the database, and develop support and funding for institutionalizing the Washington Cadastral Framework. The database integrator position is not yet funded or staffed at this point. I will continue to devote 30% of my time to the Washington Cadastral Framework through the end of the year. Carrie Wolfe will also continue to support this and other framework projects as the Framework Coordinator.

On the web site, there are several additions. The data transfer standard has been clarified and revised. The ArcView Internet Map Server application has been revised with more detailed data sets following the revised data transfer standard. There are still some data errors, but many have been fixed. In July, GCDB codes and additional corner information will be provided. The FTP download files have been built in the form of the data transfer standard files. The download files will be regenerated once per month. Example AML programs have been added to show the framework file creation, extraction, and validation processes from the integration pilot project. The file creation program has been revised according to the current data transfer standard.

There are some new capabilities available for partners to access data directly through an ArcInfo or ArcView application. Partners can connect directly to the framework database for the latest data. To access the database, you will need to provide the connection server: framework.dnr.state.wa.us, the SDE database instance: esri_fwprod, your identifier, and your password. These identifiers and passwords are new. If you do not hear from me with this information over the telephone, please contact me so that these can be assigned.

Thanks,

Greg
