Cadaster
Database
Access Application
This project web site has a link to the ArcIMS application that
accesses the Cadastral Framework database. The original database was implemented in Oracle/SDE.
The new web application utilized ArcView Internet Map Server (IMS)
software. The Washington
Department of Natural Resources has transitioned the
database to an ArcGIS geodatabase environment.
Current version of the application was put online December 2002.

About This Project
The Washington Cadastral Framework is an effort to develop and maintain
commonly
needed cadastral data in partnership with many organizations.
Cadastral data includes information about rights and interests in real
property like ownership, boundaries, and land survey
information. Framework means the "core" data
that provides a foundation upon which to build more detail. The
concept behind framework projects is to reduce duplication of effort and
increase data sharing capabilities. Project partners
are developing new ways of doing digital data business, where partners
share responsibilities, commitment, benefits, and control.
This is viewed as a long term effort that will continue to
evolve and improve. The initial development project was broken down
into two phases. The first phase (September 1997 to September 1998)
included identifying the core cadastral data, developing a database based on the Federal
Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Cadastral Data Content Standard, populating the database with initial data,
posting metadata on the Washington Clearinghouse node, and distributing
the data and metadata over the
Internet. The second phase (September 1998 to September 1999) involved
building an update posting site and an application for integration and
maintenance of Cadastral Framework data.
Washington Cadastral Framework partners include organizations at all
levels of Geographic Information System (GIS) development. Some partners
have fully developed systems that have been in use for years, others are
in the process or planning stage of developing a GIS. Washington Cadastral
Framework partners currently include representatives from federal, state, local, and
private sectors. Anyone interested in learning more about the project or
becoming a partner should contact FMG Chair:

Programs
Define Data Transfer Standard Tables
Create tables on the partner workspace to populate with data. The
data may be extracted from the proprietary partner system to fill
the data transfer standard packets for uploading, or downloaded from
the Washington Cadastral Framework database.
